Weekend Reads and Listens: Memorial Day Edition from our House in Carlsbad
Greetings everyone, and a happy Memorial Day weekend to you all!
My family and I have packed our bags for our annual trip to Carlsbad, feeling fortunate to have secured a ZIRP interest-only loan for our beautiful house. During the year, we rent it out on Airbnb, but come the summer, we are here to stay! The unique experience it offers us is one that we cherish deeply.
The weather, hovering around 70 degrees Fahrenheit, matches my preference for a more temperate climate. If you happen to be located in the San Diego or Orange County area and are a founder, operator, or investor, I would love the chance to connect with you! So, without further ado, on to some exciting content.

Not much notable here- busy week packing- much more for next week.
Listens 🎙:
I love Howie’s podcasts. This one features a portfolio founder of a curator of cycling brands on an e-commerce website. As an amateur cyclist I loved listening to the merging brands within the sport.
I am not a ZoomInfo user but I know how powerful of a tool it is for B2B sales. also know the stock is an absolute monster. This is a fantastic listen on building data companies, creating a championship team, quantifying sales sophistication within enterprises, and unpacking M&A strategies.
Howie interviews a crypto fund manager who I believe speaks very intelligently and pragmatically about blockchain as a technology and crypto as an asset class. Where I became completely closed minded since the crypto winter this made me revisit my thinking on the bull case.
Tools 🛠:
Being a single GP shop it is hard to identify where to invest in software tools for sourcing. My technology stack is getting more robust but also is my sourcing. The newest tool I found that I find exceptional is Octopus. It is an incredible chrome extension which allows for automation of Linkedin outreach. The price is fantastic to the value.
