The Three Ways I Have Won Deals
I have learned that sets and reps are the keys to my success. Everyone wants to look like a bodybuilder, but no one wants to go to the gym consistently. Consistency and staying power have served me well. In that sense, I am optimistic for the future of myself as an investor and the wealth I can create for people by capitalizing on great companies.
"There is so much money out there. Tiger will start doing earlier stage deals" these are the statements I hear from other investors hemming and hawing about the current market conditions. How can someone possibly compete with gobs of capital flooding early-stage companies? The answer is simple- sets and reps.
After analyzing all of the deals I have won over the seven years, I found this.
1) I was first to present myself and show genuine interest in the people and the business.
2) I showed up IN PERSON to meet with management. Yes, that means getting on a plane.
3) I have founders that I have backed that said nice things about me to the founder I am pursuing.
Being first and putting the time in with these founders requires consistency. I don't consider myself the smartest investor, but I have more horsepower than most.
