RIP Jimmy Buffet, my Alcoholism, and Weekend Reads and Listens
There are few childhood memories that I hold as fondly as my love for Jimmy Buffet. My dad was a big fan too, and I can still vividly recall listening to his music on our way to school. The carefree island lifestyle always resonated with me, and it manifested in my deep passion for scuba diving.
Eventually, I followed my heart's calling and relocated to Miami to pursue a career as a professional diver. I chose the only school that offered a bachelor's degree in the field, and during the summers, I worked on dive boats and in dive shops. Here's a snapshot of me alongside me and my female classmates. None of them were interested in me but were nice enough to make me look cool for the picture.
Ultimately I couldn’t hang long in Margaritaville as my alcoholism left needing a lot of help. I checked into rehab and after taught diving in West Palm for a couple of years before restarting my life in healthcare. Onward
Thanks for taking a trip down memory lane with me - attached are this weekends reads and listens!
