Q2 Deal Stats and Some Interesting Reads/Listens
I hope everyone had a Happy 4th!
We had a family-packed weekend of parks, pizza, Disneyland, and meltdowns. Ah, the joys of parenting. Onward.
We have been collecting data for our Q2 efforts at DWP and have found that we screened 157 new opportunities. That was up from 129 last quarter. We had a goal of screening 500 deals this year, so we are over the target.
Interestingly, we had two deals re-enter our pipeline from Q1. We previously passed on them due to valuation but now are back stating they are up for taking less capital, making our valuation more tenable. Coincidently I found an article on the market correction hitting Series Seed and Series A here.
I was able to catch up on some podcasts over the weekend. It is a great way to tune out the screaming of my kids.
One great one was Bill Gurley discussing the difference between IPOs vs. Direct Listings. My one takeaway is how disgustingly egregious these big banks are when it comes to these financings.
