Nothing is Easy Anymore
The other day I heard my friend speaking to someone on the phone about go-to-market strategies. He stated, “Nothing is easy anymore; all the low-hanging fruit has been picked.” That statement gut-punched me. How true that is in the software world from all angles.
Money has been bountiful over the last couple of years. “Best in class” software became very popular over complete platforms. Companies had many software vendors they used with tons of integrations to have them all talk to each other. Generally, all software companies become commodities over time unless they are complex technologies to build. Will the legacy platforms eat away at the best-in-class solutions?
Concluding that everything will be more challenging is something with which I have come to terms. Fundraising, GTM strategies, company budgets, and valuation compression are some headwinds. It is these headwinds that will separate great managers from hobbyists. Bring it 2023.
