"Going the Distance" and Weekend Reads and Listens
Over the summers I usually spend my workouts running and cycling mostly because of the incredible weather and incredible scenery. This summer has been a breakout for me in terms of speed and endurance. I think its because my diet is better and now to testosterone replacement therapy. I have a virtual coach that is getting me ready for a 100M ride in November and a half marathon in January. Shout out to Krista LaPan at Red Dog Endurance! I’ll never reach David Goggins levels but I definitely am “putting out” 6-days per week. Enjoy this weeks reads and listens!
Reads 🤓:
T Tunguz wrote a great article called There is No Such Thing as Series A Metrics in which I couldn’t agree more. A great quote on a series a heuristic
In my view, the most important metric across rounds isn’t ARR but pipeline predictability. Companies with great pipeline-to-quota ratios & stable sales cycles can forecast more accurately than the rest.
Kyla Scanion on Why Gen Z is Redefining the Concept of Job Satisfaction - an interesting excuse on why Gen Z is such a shitty cohort of employees to manage.
How to Read an S1 is a great article on how people can easily look up essential data on scaled companies. This is a must read for early entrants in the finance space.
WSJ on Big-Bank Earnings Show Signs of Soft Landing - could Jerome Powell actually be a great Fed Chair?
Listens 🎙:
I usually don’t put my weekly listen to the All In Pod on my weekly listens as I think it would be too redundant. This episode is fantastic however as I feel the conversations are deeper. Maybe because J Cal isn’t on it?
Have a great weekend everyone! See you on Monday!
